The most common body pain to strike a person is back pain. Almost everybody complains about back pain at least once in his life. The good thing is that this can be prevented. If prevention doesn’t work or is hard to do, then simple home remedies and body massage often restore a good back. There’s seldom need for surgery.

Our back cushions our spine and back pain often arises when ligaments and bones are strained. Heavy lifting, extreme physical work, sudden body movement and spasm are common causes of back pain. Structural problem can also cause back pain like arthritis and osteoporosis. Osteoporosis occurs when your bones become brittle. Scoliosis can also lead to back pain because your spine curves to the side. Rare cases like cancer and infection of the spine may also be related to back pain.

People who are often affected by back pain are people who smoke and those who are overweight. Women are often targets and older people easily get back pain because their bones are weaker compared to when they were young. People whose work involves physical exertion can also experience back pain as well as those whose minds are under constant stress. You might want to start seeking for a happier lifestyle and develop a positive outlook in life because anxiety and depression are prone to more back pain complaints.

Back pain is often considered as a temporary ailment. Complete rest and self-care gradually heals pain in your backs. Medical advice is needed when you are in doubt and the pain doesn’t subside even after self-medication. It can be a symptom of a more serious condition when; pain extends to different parts of the body, intensity of pain is getting stronger especially at night, it is associated with fever or if you just had an accident.

To prevent back pain certain measures should be taken. Proper exercise, building muscle strength and a healthy lifestyle can ward off any unwanted pain. Our daily jobs contribute a lot to developing back pain so if you have to sit all day, then, try to maintain correct posture. If you have to stand for long periods then try alternately resting your feet on a low footstool. And if you lift heavy loads everyday, try lifting slowly and don’t lift more than you can. Do not bend your body. Use your knees to bring your body down and ask a partner to help you with the load to avoid too much physical exertion.
