February 11th, 2011 Posted 12:58 am

Can you imagine a world in which you would have access to a web portal which would allow you to manage some of your own electronic medical record services ? Well this may not be too far out of reach as there are many EMR vendors who have already released different versions of software which allow patients to login and access Web portals in which they can receive test results, request prescriptions, update emergency contact information, fill out medical forms and even request appointments or appointment rescheduling. Many people in the medical profession feel that this is an excellent way to die for some of the responsibilities of the administrative offices, also known as the front end of the house to the patients themselves.

There are other people who feel this may not be a very good idea as they are afraid that privacy could be compromised through computer hackers. However, the companies that provide the software assure us that only the most secure Web applications are utilized. More and more healthcare facilities are adopting this type of interactive software. With the advent of the Internet and modern computer technology, it is not surprising that something like this has finally emerged. The federal government is planning on spending over $20 billion in the field of healthcare IT somewhere in the near future. In fact, there are already bills being presented to Congress concerning electronic medical records. It is believed that someday soon all medical facilities will have adopted this type of procedure for dealing with their patients. This will cut back on salaries as not as many administrative panels will be needed as long as patients are handling a lot of their own responsibilities in terms of forms, records and other request.

PACS Server: C-FIND and C-MOVE

October 29th, 2010 Posted 9:23 am

Just like any other data storage system, PACS data storage system also uses queries and information retrieval methods to process information. In medical image storage systems, the two standard commands used are C-FIND and C-MOVE. C-FIND is basically a query protocol used to send commands. The only difference is that it uses unique codes and commands based on the DICOM standard to communicate with the server, making it difficult to sniff or capture while being streamed. The medical image storage server will then decode the queries and process them accordingly. If the query or C-FIND is accepted, the storage server will then issue a C-MOVE based on the sent parameters. It will then find medical images and other related information; these information are compressed and encrypted before they are streamed to the access terminal that sent the C-FIND command. The process is completed in a matter of milliseconds, making PACS data storage very responsive. With this unique architecture, it is not difficult at all for hospitals and medical institutions to integrate the best medical image storage solution. Diagnostic tools and modality also use the same DICOM standard and are compatible with C-FIND and C-MOVE commands, so they can be easily integrated as part of the medical image storage system.

Women’s Injuries

September 15th, 2010 Posted 1:25 am

Lots of women play all kinds of sports and where there is activity, there will be injuries.  This can happen while playing basketball, softball, skiing and riding a bike.  There is safety equipment designed to keep you protected from injuries but they are not a guarantee. Exercising too has its risk of injury especially if you are using a training machine in a gym.

These machines can wear out and nuts and bolts can come loose leaving the machine to not work correctly.  Gyms are required to check for these things and keep their members safe but not everything is caught in time. Maybe she is using a pieces of equipment for stretching or even swimming in the gym pool.  Personal injuries happen everywhere and when they do you will want to file an injury claim

This claim will not be against the gym or the person who owns it, but against the maker of the equipment if it is found to be defective.  This must be proven to have a valid claim and your lawyer is the only person who can answer that question.  Once you find your lawyer to take your case, he will let you know all the details of your claim and what you can expect for an outcome.
