Luckily, some of the foods you are already eating daily may just be some of the superfoods listed below. If not, try to incorporate them by adding them to your favorite dishes (where applicable).
Broccoli
This cruciferous vegetable protects the body against cancer. It also contains a healthy dose of Vitamin C in just one cup. You can also indulge in cauliflower for similar nutrients. Try broccoli and cauliflower steamed or even roasted along with other vegetables and sprinkled with sea salt.
Kale
Kale packs Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Calcium. It also contains nutrients to protect vision. It’s a heart healthy food, lowering the bad cholesterol (LDL) and raising the good cholesterol (HDL). Prepare it by steaming it, sauteing it and even tossing it in soups.
Blueberries
You’ve probably heard that blueberries are super healthy. They are packed with antioxidants, reducing the risk of cancer, heart disease and even diabetes. You can buy them fresh, freeze dried or frozen. Toss them in yogurt, or simply eat handfuls of them for a sweet treat. You can also add them to muffins and pancakes. For a quick snack on the go, make a trial mix with various nuts and dried fruit, including dried blueberries. Nuts are a superfood as well, some are heart healthy and packed with fiber.
Nuts
Almonds are high in fiber and high in calcium, magnesium and protein. Walnuts are high in omega-3 fatty acids and considered one of the most heart healthy foods. Selenium, an important antioxidant, is found in brazil nuts. Fortunately, nuts can easily be added to the diet. You can put chopped nuts into your yogurt, into muffins and on your salad. Snack on them during the day for a protein snack. Also try nut butters, smearing them on toast and rice crackers or mixing a spoonful into your oatmeal.
Get Creative
In reality, all vegetables and fruits can be considered superfoods because they contain beneficial and essential nutrients. Mix up your intake and focus on variety. Beans are also superfoods, providing fiber and protein among a list of other nutrients. One way to encourage better eating habits is to log your food intake, that way you can be sure you’re getting enough superfoods to properly fuel and maintain your body.

Weight Loss Diet
March 4th, 2010 Posted 9:52 am
Diet is one of the most popular solutions for quick and effective weight loss. However, when faced with the dieting market today, we have many choices. Knowing which one is right for us is crucial, it will make the difference between quick results, and a healthy solution for weight loss. One popular diet is the scarsdale diet.
With this particular diet, you can lose seven to fifteen pounds safely in just two weeks. After this diet regimen, you’ll continue with keep trim eating for two more weeks. This kind of eating involves creating your own meals based on a list of acceptable foods, containing more calories. After this, you’ll immediately proceed with two more weeks of the scarsdale diet, which is strict and only allows foods that contain very little calories. Then you’ll continue in the pattern with two more keeps of the keep trim eating diet, which is less strict and allows you more calories.
You continue alternating between these two diet plans until you reach your ultimate weight loss goal. This allows you some more freedom between the strict, low calorie diet regimen. You can easily manage two weeks of strict, and two weeks of higher calorie food, to reach your goal.

Teeth Matters
April 8th, 2009 Posted 11:18 am
The teeth do not only serve a functional purpose in a human being’s life. In fact, it is also one of the standards by which a person’s image is judged. Having a clean and healthy set of teeth is an indication that a person is conscious enough about his/her dental health which is always a good trait.
In maintaining your dental health, you have to remember a few things that are often overlooked.
1. Pay your dentist a visit once every six months. Do not wait on a root canal procedure to induce you to have your teeth checked out. Have your teeth cleaned as least twice a year as well. Oral prophylaxis is a painless procedure that does not cost too much. It will avoid any tartar build up in the places that are hard to reach even with the use of dental floss.
2. Change your toothbrush at least every three months. The amount of bacteria that accumulates in the bristles of your toothbrush will make your stomach churn. Make sure that you keep your toothbrush in a clean place and use a toothbrush cap to cover it while in storage.
3. Use mouthwash regularly. Brushing and flossing are not enough. Take time to gargle an effective mouthwash (at least 3 minutes) to achieve the highest possible cleanliness your teeth can have without the benefits of an oral prophylaxis.
4. Keep your sweet tooth in check. Stay away from too much sweet foods and sugared beverages. If you can’t, make sure that you brush your teeth after consuming massive amounts of glucose.
Your dental health is just as important as your overall well being so you have to make it a point to see to it that such is never neglected for any length of time.

Managing Back Pain when it Strikes
March 26th, 2009 Posted 10:13 pm
The most common body pain to strike a person is back pain. Almost everybody complains about back pain at least once in his life. The good thing is that this can be prevented. If prevention doesn’t work or is hard to do, then simple home remedies and body massage often restore a good back. There’s seldom need for surgery.
Our back cushions our spine and back pain often arises when ligaments and bones are strained. Heavy lifting, extreme physical work, sudden body movement and spasm are common causes of back pain. Structural problem can also cause back pain like arthritis and osteoporosis. Osteoporosis occurs when your bones become brittle. Scoliosis can also lead to back pain because your spine curves to the side. Rare cases like cancer and infection of the spine may also be related to back pain.
People who are often affected by back pain are people who smoke and those who are overweight. Women are often targets and older people easily get back pain because their bones are weaker compared to when they were young. People whose work involves physical exertion can also experience back pain as well as those whose minds are under constant stress. You might want to start seeking for a happier lifestyle and develop a positive outlook in life because anxiety and depression are prone to more back pain complaints.
Back pain is often considered as a temporary ailment. Complete rest and self-care gradually heals pain in your backs. Medical advice is needed when you are in doubt and the pain doesn’t subside even after self-medication. It can be a symptom of a more serious condition when; pain extends to different parts of the body, intensity of pain is getting stronger especially at night, it is associated with fever or if you just had an accident.
To prevent back pain certain measures should be taken. Proper exercise, building muscle strength and a healthy lifestyle can ward off any unwanted pain. Our daily jobs contribute a lot to developing back pain so if you have to sit all day, then, try to maintain correct posture. If you have to stand for long periods then try alternately resting your feet on a low footstool. And if you lift heavy loads everyday, try lifting slowly and don’t lift more than you can. Do not bend your body. Use your knees to bring your body down and ask a partner to help you with the load to avoid too much physical exertion.
